<p>Moulana Majid Educational Welfare Association Trust (MEWA Trust) was established as a registered trust in 2003 in Cuttack, Orissa.</p>
<p>The trust was created for the development and upliftment of muslim women in the state of Orissa, who are living a very miserable life. These women have been highly neglected and kept away from the modern development and from education. Mrs. Mamdooha Majid, founder and president of the trust decided to create this trust in her father's name for the benefit and welfare of women in particular and needy brethren of muslim community in general.</p>
<p>To pursue the Trust's objectives Mrs. Mamdooha Majid donated her personal property valued around Rs. 8 lakhs. The building comprises of 6 furnished rooms concrete cemented, with area measuring 2500 sq. ft. The trust selflessly helps the needy people by organizing various benevolent activities in the remote rural area.</p>
<p>Currently the Trust is running an English medium Primary School and a Vocational Training Center, imparting non-formal education to men and women. While the Trust reserves the right to charge very nominal fee to beneficiaries, it imparts free education to needy and provides them all amenities including books and clothing from its own fund. Furthermore, the Trust provides free coaching for High School students.</p>
<p>In addition, the Trust has established a Tailoring Institute for poor girls and divorced women. So far the institute has been instrumental in training and making about 250 girls self-employed in the area.</p>
<p>To help uplift the weaker section of the society, the Trust also provides medical aid to needy people. Financial assistance is also provided, upon review of the case, to people to help cover expenses in conducting marriage of their daughters. Sewing machines and other related articles are also provided to poor women.</p>
<p>To expand the current facility, the Trust recently constructed a new classroom. We currently need two additional rooms constructed, to provide a computer lab (20' x 30') and a practice lab (15' x 20') to the students. The Trust would appreciate any financial assistance/aid towards the current construction project which is estimated to cost around Rs 3.5 lakhs.</p>
